There are different types of anxiety disorders which cause problems
for many individuals in the United States. In some cases, those
conditions may be more likely to occur within certain segments of the
population. As an example, Asian American mental health
issues of certain types may be more or less likely to occur than they
would in different segments, such as African-Americans. Regardless of
your background, however, it is possible for you to experience some form
of anxiety or major depressive disorder, as it affects almost 7% of the
population in any given year. What can you do if you experience this
problem?
First of all, it is important to understand that the treatments for
your disorder are going to differ, depending upon the specifics of your
problem. For example, there are many medications which can provide some
relief from depression and other symptoms that you may be experiencing
but those may not be an effective choice as an obsessive compulsive disorder treatment.
It is also important to understand that not all types of depressive
disorder treatments are going to involve medication. It may also be
possible for you to get some relief from your problem if you see a
qualified psychologist. They will help you to discuss any problems which
could be leading to the depression or anxiety that you are feeling.
They may also be able to point you in the right direction as to other
forms of treatment that can help to control your symptoms and allow you
to lead a normal day-to-day life. (Source: Dr. Chan San Francisco Psychologist)
